Where are we today?

Part 1 – Where are we today?

This Part summarises what I see as the state and trajectory of our human world today.  It is arranged in four sections, or “spheres” – personal, governance, economic, and environmental (the “biosphere”).

Chapter 3 describes the four spheres, and how they interact with each other, in more detail.

Chapters 4 to 6 deal in turn with the personal, governance and economic spheres, summarising their respective current states.

Chapters 7 to 10 deal with the biosphere, including separate chapters for each of the land, the water, the air, and animal, bird and insect life.

Chapter 11 discusses how the four spheres interact with each other, and illustrates their interdependence.

Finally in this Part, Chapter 12 turns from the state of our world to its trajectory – the likely and possible scenarios we face over the next 20 to 100 years.

The next Part then looks at how we got to where we are now, illustrating how the economic sphere has managed to get largely out of control in relation to the other spheres.
